Thanet Lifeguard Club (TLGC) was founded in 1974 and is affiliated with the national body The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS UK & Ireland) a charity with a proud history of helping to save the number of lives lost to drowning who aims to enhance communities, so everyone can enjoy being in, on and around water, safely, because every life is worth saving.

The club holds regular training sessions at Ramsgate Leisure Centre and various beaches around Thanet’s coastline.

The club mission is to promote water safety, lifesaving, and lifeguarding, by sharing, our expertise and knowledge with as many people as possible, giving everyone the potential to save lives and enjoy water, safely.

We aim to provide quality lifesaving and lifeguard skills training in partnership with The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS UK & Ireland) to our club members aged from 7 years upwards the opportunity to keep fit through Life Saving Sport, and fitness skills, while gaining and improving skill levels, and equipping members to deal with emergency situations in an enjoyable and inclusive training and education environment with links to nationally recognised awards and qualifications which can help lead to an occupation in lifeguarding.

We also aim to provide a community outreach programme where both aquatic and first aid training, support, and advice to the local area.
